PANTA RHEI

inspired by the famous expression of the greek philosopher Heraclitus (panta rhei) “everything flows”, Heraclitus suggested to his parable you can never cross twice the same river because both the water and the person will have changed.

The videos are filmed in the same lake at the same time during three different days in a single take with a stationary camera, it contain no edits or subsequent manipulation. These videos are composed of fragments from the reflection of the sun on a body of water. The idea is based on multiplicity and repetition of nature and its meditative qualities. The natural sound is processed, sequenced and distorted in a similar way that the water distorts the sunlight. The overlapping multiple layers of space-time through imagery and sound create a hypnotic rhythm.
